To the south of the south spit

Normally, I do very complex environments.  The simplicity of this appeals to me.

Redwood House Road

Had a great time with Pam and Tom heading up into the hills south of here.  Here's a couple of images from the trip.  From the second image, I've learned that I never want to use a polarizing filter on a blue sky.  Yuck.

Austin, NV

The largest two buildings center left are the gym and Austin School where I taught from 1971-1974.  The photo was taken from one of the many mining roads surrounding the town.  Shooting, developing, and printing were what helped keep my sanity in a town with no tv and the only radio was KSL from Salt Lake at night. I travelled 176 miles west for groceries, books, movies, etcetera.

Dangerous Water

This was at a tributary off 299.  Attempting to accentuate the treacherousness of the water.  Are those tigers beneath the surface?

More Spit stuff

Here's my other-worldly interpretation of something both Tom and I shot.

About 100 yards away was this.

South Spit

Had a nice afternoon with Pam and Tom shooting south of the bar.  Here's the first couple of images I've worked on.

Wind

In the next few weeks, I'm going to try to capture wind in photos.  Just to get the hang of the equipment I'm using, here's a photo of the Mayten tree in my front yard.  I've done a good job over the last couple of years getting a handle on tonality.  Now, I'm going after time.
